2nd Day Camping and Hiking

Hey Cognac you want to see what's in here.
Lots of good sniffs around here.  Cuervo, I think a squirrel went by this tree, quit sniffing and take a look.
Bubbles is always working us, we came back to her, so we get a treat.

Boy this exploring is fun.
Come on  Bubbles and Baboo, catch up to us.

Nothing like a rest after a hike.
Yep, we're totally having a mid morning nap.

Camping in September

The morning we got up to go camping, the peak was covered in snow, since we were going to be on the west side at 10,000 feet, I was sure hoping for snow to play in.  I was going to show Cognac what you can do in deep snow.
Unfortunately when we got there, alas no snow down in the camping area.  I'm relaxing with Bubbles and Cognac is just looking for squirrels.

Those squirrels, just liked to stay out of site and chatter at her.
Even sitting she just kept watching for squirrels.
She finally laid down but was going to stay at the edge of camp, just in case a squirrel got close.
Cuervo, you sure you don't want to come over here and look for squirrels.
Are you kidding Cognac, I'll stay here on the blanket, let me know if you get one.
Ah, Baboo got the fire going, now I'll let Bubbles scratch my chest, and I'll sit by the fire and get warm.
Ever watchful.
Cuervo, are you asleep?
Now a slight yawn from Cognac.
In the camper, we get one side, and Bubbles and Baboo get the other.  Cuervo you sure you want to go to sleep?

Finally two tired pups, a big day of hiking tomorrow.

Cognac Mellowing Out

When Cognac first came to live with us, she was always manic over her food.  She would be bouncing off the kitchen floors, while it was being prepared.  Now we all think she has become comfortable with her new family.  We had a hard time making her sit and wait for it to be put down.  But now she'll lie down and wait for her food to be put down, and no longer wolf's it down, but takes her time.

Her favorite spot is looking out the dinning room window out on to the street, whether it's waiting for Baboo to come home from work, or checking out the wild life that walks by.  She has gotten better at not barking at the deer.  But she definitely lets us know when the bear comes by.
This little guy was just walking up the street.
Decided on munching on some of the neighbors plants. Not phased by Cognac watching him.

More Hiking in the Rockies

Boy there are all sorts of big rocks to climb around up here.  I doubt if Cognac had seen big rocks like this in LA.
It's always fun to explore.
We're both up here looking down at Bubbles and Baboo.
Just like there was a little piece of ice left, we found a nice "muddy" pond of water to cool off in.
Cognac is pretty gentle when she wades around.  It wasn't deep enough to swin.
Me I go craaazzzzyyyy in the water see me run.

On the way back down we found a nice little clean stream to explore.
The water was nice and cool.
We just kept exploring.  But couldn't find a spot deep enough to lie in and get clean.
After we got home, Bubbles said we stunk like muddy water, so we had a bath in the courtyard.

We're both good and clean.
But boy after a day in the mountains, hiking, and running around, and a "bath", sure makes one tired.  So having a snooze on the couch.

Hiking in the Rocky Mountains

In June we went up to a place called the Crags, it was Cuervo's first hiking trip to the real Rocky Mountains, and I was going to show her the way.
We are both running to get Baboo, and look at me, my ears are up just like Cuervo's.
This is really high up in the Rockies, we start at 10,000 feet and go up, boy is it a hike.
We found a stream, and I just had to plop down in it to cool off.
I laid in it for awhile, and Cognac got a drink.
But after getting wet and cool what do you have to do, but run amuck.
Cognac didn't know what to make of me, running with wild abandon.
Boy, oh boy, this is the last ice patch on the whole mountain, and I found it, nothing like lying on a cool sheet of ice.
I don't think Cognac is quite as impressed as I am.
Well there is more to follow, and I promise I'll get Baboo to add more faster this time.
